The conversion of two legendary hotels in Magaluf (Calviá Dreams – formerly Pax – and Barracuda) to shape a new 4-star establishment is a mere step away from opening. At the new Hotel Pax Barracuda with nearly 400 rooms, the final touches are already being put in place before its inauguration next spring. The team from Estel Ingeniería y Obras is currently participating in the renovation of the common and outdoor areas, providing the general installations. Our aim is to equip the premises with the most advanced features available, to achieve maximum guest satisfaction and comfort.
Our engineers and technicians have been working in situ on the project since last December, addressing its specific needs by providing the latest technical advances and energy optimising the facilities. During the course of this project, Estel offers the venue its 25 years of experience in integral engineering and maintenance projects related to hotels (and other buildings). The intention is to significantly improve on the performance of the installations.
At a cost of 23 million euros, the conversion of the two establishments will create a single hotel and is the result of an agreement reached between Hotel Investment Partners (HIP) – the Blackstone platform – and Room Mate Hotels, a company owned by Kike Sarasola from Madrid. As such, the project becomes part of the recent expansion both companies have experienced.
HIP is a company that have entrusted projects to Estel on other occasions and it currently consists of more than 60 hotels (on a rental and management basis) and offers a total of nearly 19,000 rooms. These establishments are distributed over the main tourist destinations in the world and a majority of them are managed by the big names in the sector (Barceló, Marriott, Meliá, Tryp…).
The other partner, Room Mate, plans to have about 30 hotels and nearly 3,000 beds available at the end of 2020 after its latest incorporations. The agreement reached with the Blackstone platform means that the Spanish brand will start managing holiday hotels for the first time (until now its main focus has been boutique hotels).
Estel Ingeniería y Obras would like to thank the company HIP, the largest hotel owner in Spain and the third biggest in Europe, for confiding in us and our team of professionals when undertaking these key initiatives.
